How do I rent a car?

To rent a car on Urend, download the Urend app or use our website, create your profile search for the car you want in the city you need it. We will ask you the following:

  • Driver's license
  • ID or Passport
  • Credit Card

What happens if I get a ticket for a traffic violation?

It is not nice, but it sometimes happens. As the lessee, you are responsible for any traffic violations you commit during the rental period. Accordingly, please inform the lessor of any violations when returning the car. Honesty is very important in such a situation. As soon as the lessor receives the ticket, he or she will report you as being the driver. The authorities will then contact you shortly thereafter. We will charge you €20 for the inconvenience.

How does the return process work?

The return process is almost exactly like the handoff process and is also handled completely digitally by using the Urend app on your lessor’s smartphone. If you have any problems, please contact Urend customer service.

How does the handoff process work?

Handoff is super easy. The Urend app will take you and your lessor through the entire process step by step. Once you have both completed the identity verification process, any existing damage (interior and exterior) will be photographically documented, the vehicle’s cleanliness assessed, and the mileage and gas tank level recorded.

What conditions must I fulfill so that I have insurance coverage?

For your rental to be insured with Allianz,

  1. You must be at least 21 years old;
  2. You must have a valid driver’s license that was issued at least two years prior by an EU Member State or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. Any driver’s license not issued by one of these countries must be reissued or you must have an international driver’s license.
  3. You must remain within the EU during the entire rental period.
  4. You must provide correct information regarding any accidents.
  5. Your personal data must be verified with the Urend app.

How can I determine if a car is available?

As soon as you have selected your rental dates, only those cars available for this period will be displayed.

Currently we only accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express). We will soon be adding other methods, e.g. MangoPay.

What sort of prerequisites do I/my car have to meet?

  • You must be the rightful owner of the vehicle
  • The vehicle is registered as a passenger car (< 3.5 metric tons) in Greece under your name
  • You have a liability insurance policy that is valid for the entire year (insurance contracts that only cover the car when it is not in use or is kept in a garage are not sufficient)
  • Your vehicle is roadworthy (tires, brakes, headlights, etc. all work properly) and is equipped for the season in question (e.g. snow tires)
  • The market value of your vehicle is less than €25,000

How old do I need to be to list a vehicle on Urend?

You must be at least 21 years old. The same also applies to our lessees.

How do I rent out my car on Urend?

To list your car on Urend, download the Urend app or use our website, create your profile and post the listing for your car. During the upload, we’ll ask you for the following information:

  • Vehicle details – Make, model, year, license plate number and current mileage
  • Car license
  • Good pictures of the interior and exterior
  • Brief description of your vehicle
  • Location of your vehicle (won’t become completely visible until you have accepted a rental request)

If everything is OK the booking will start immediately.

INSURANCE AND SAFETY

Is my vehicle insured during the rental period?

Yes, your vehicle is fully insured during the entire rental period by our insurance partner, Allianz. Our insurance includes comprehensive coverage, liability and roadside assistance; it replaces your regular insurance during the rental period. Since Allianz provides comprehensive coverage for each Urend rental, you do not need to inform your existing car insurer; your premiums will not be impacted.You can find detailed information about the insurance conditions on our website.

MANAGING BOOKINGS

I received a rental request – what should I do now?

As soon as you approve a lessee’s booking request, the lessee will receive confirmation stating that you have entered into a binding agreement to rent out your car. You can contact the lessee directly by our message system anytime . You don’t need to do anything special to prepare for the handoff (except to charge your smartphone). The process is completely digital and is managed via the Urend app.

PAYMENT AND FEES

How and when will I receive payment from the rental?

Once you have officially confirmed the potential lessee’s request, the entire fee for the rental will be transferred to an escrow account, where it will serve as a deposit. After the rental process is complete and the return report has been filled out in it entirely, the fee for the rental (minus the Urend commission) will be transferred to your account. You will receive the final transaction statement by e-mail after the rental process is complete.

  • Your vehicle has valid TÜV certification in accordance with Section 29 of German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO)
  • You have a liability insurance policy that is valid for the entire year (insurance contracts that only cover the car when it is not in use or is kept in a garage are not sufficient)
  • Your vehicle is roadworthy (tires, brakes, headlights, etc. all work properly) and is equipped for the season in question (e.g. snow tires)
  • The market value of your vehicle is less than €150,000

What do I need to keep in mind when listing my vehicle on Urend?

The rule of thumb is, the more information about your vehicle you provide to potential lessees, the higher the chance that you’ll generate rental requests/income. Good photos are particularly important here.Remember: You are required to provide an accurate, honest description of your vehicle. You also have to regularly assess whether your car is roadworthy, and always make sure it is clean and tidy when you hand it off to a lessee.
